Job description:
The Emergency Medical Technician responds to medical emergencies; renders aid to injured parties; assists at non-medical emergency scenes with support-related activities; operates ambulances and other related medical equipment; participates in station, equipment, and apparatus maintenance; attends training classes, and drills; participates in training with hands-on practical application to acquire knowledge in basic fire-fighting related equipment, skills and techniques; diagnoses medical problems and performs first-aid and resuscitator functions; and other related duties as assigned. Application Prerequisites: EMT National Registry Certification (NREMT) and Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.Once the application is accepted, the Oceanside Fire Department will schedule an interview with eligible candidates. If selected to participate and with approval from respective command staff, candidates would begin participating in the City of Oceanside EMT Intern SkillBridge program through the end of their enlistment. The duration of the program will be 150-180 days.***Participants must obtain the following certification before starting the Oceanside Fire Department EMT program: San Diego County EMT certification,https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/ems/certification_and_accreditation/emt_initial/
