A Fleet technician performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks including, but not limited to, chassis components, vehicle bodies and control systems, hydraulic electrical, air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drive train and steering systems. Primary Responsibilities:• Repairs and required preventive maintenance of tractors, trailers, and other equipment.• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform maintenance on equipment.• Run road calls to complete repairs on the road, if necessary.• Observes and listens to trucks and other equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures. Also conducts fleet check weekly on all fleet equipment including checking mileage, fluid levels, belts, tires, leaks, and cab inspection.• Drives repaired trucks or other vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.• Inspects tires, DOT inspections and general appearance of vehicles and corrects any problems.• Examines refrigeration units and makes any necessary repairs to electrical and diesel operation as needed.• Maintains checklist of all repairs made on each truck and keeps accurate equipment files.• Keeps service truck stocked sufficiently to facilitate road calls.• Always keeps work area in clean working order.• Assists outside vendors on yard fleet inspections/maintenance.• Logs maintenance and repairs in shop software. Additional Responsibilities:• Maintains quality appearance as outlined in PDC employee handbook.• Attends all meetings, seminars, and training scheduled by management.• Must maintain a Class-A Commercial Driver’s License. What You Need to Succeed:• Able to speak clearly and listen attentively.• Ability to work well with others.• Safety minded.• Sound computer knowledge and ability to learn new software• Have a current Commercial Driver's License, preferred.• MS office experience and the ability to communicate electronically.• At least 2 to 5 years’ experience as a diesel mechanic working on commercial trucks and/or combined years of experience plus successful completion of technical training• Must have your own tools. The Physical Requirements:• Regularly required to move around tight, low areas when repairing trucks and other equipment.• Able to adeptly use hand and air tools, including wrenches, drills, and grinders.• Able to occasionally move up to 100 lbs.• Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather environments including high and low temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail.
