Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic - Networking Subject Matter Expert

The Advanced Technology Development (ATD) Integrated Product Team (IPT) is within the Expeditionary Department of NIWC Atlantic. Its purpose is to rapidly create unique expeditionary prototypes driven by Service level needs, shaped by Fleet engagement, matured in collaboration with subject matter experts and established transition partners increasing USMC lethality alongside Joint and Coalition partners. The vision of the IPT is to advance USMC technology readiness for informed acquisition decisions.

As a Networking Subject Matter Expert within the ATD IPT, this role will perform requirements analysis, systems design, prototyping, fielding, integration, troubleshooting, testing, training, and updating technical and logistics documentation for Internet Protocol (IP) routing/switching, cable plans, long haul transport, network monitoring, transmission security and communications security systems.

• Technical expertise in maintaining U.S. Marine Corps and/or Navy network communications systems.• In-depth technical knowledge and experience with Expeditionary communications systems and their capabilities, concept of operations, and concepts of employment.• Proficiently maintained and operated business or tactical computer networks.• Experience working with stakeholders and users to identify operational requirements.• Experience conducting system, modular, and component level troubleshooting and repairs.• Experience in creating establishing secure and stable network communication links with expeditionary units, naval vessels and/or outside entities.• Multi-tasked to keep all assigned projects running effectively and efficiently.• Quickly learned new skills and applied them to daily tasks, improving efficiency and productivity.• Experience leading the planning and complex technical systems analysis of system-of-systems to maintain or restore communications in a DoD environment.• Professional presence with highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to develop briefings and written reports to succinctly capture key issues for testing or maintenance activities.
