This SkillBridge internship provides transitioning service members with advanced, hands-on training in social media management, engagement strategy, and digital communications within a mission-driven mental health organization.The intern will support and oversee day-to-day social media activity across all Don’t Deal, Let’s Heal platforms while working under the guidance and oversight of an experienced social media manager. This role is designed for candidates who already possess foundational social media skills and are seeking to refine strategy, deepen engagement expertise, and build a strong professional portfolio in a real-world environment.The position is training-focused and educational in nature, emphasizing supervised application of existing skills, strategic development, analytics interpretation, and brand-aligned messaging. The intern will not replace paid staff and all work will be reviewed as part of a structured training plan and will fully remote.

The Social Media & Digital Communications Intern at Don’t Deal, Let’s Heal will participate in a structured SkillBridge training program while supporting and overseeing the organization’s social media presence across multiple platforms.Under the guidance and oversight of an experienced social media manager, the intern will apply existing social media skills while receiving advanced training in engagement strategy, content planning, analytics interpretation, and brand-aligned messaging. The role is designed for candidates with prior social media experience who are seeking to refine their skills in a supervised, real-world environment.Training activities include:Supporting day-to-day social media activity for Don’t Deal, Let’s Heal under supervisionDrafting and refining posts, captions, and visual content using tools such as CanvaAssisting with content calendar planning and campaign coordinationSupporting audience engagement efforts and reviewing interactions for alignmentReviewing engagement metrics and performance data to understand trendsParticipating in strategy discussions to align social media efforts with organizational goalsCompleting a capstone project demonstrating skills developed during the programThis position is training-focused and educational in nature, does not replace paid staff, and emphasizes professional development, mentorship, and portfolio creation. All training activities are conducted remotely in an online environment under supervision.

Open to all eligible transitioning members.Candidates must have prior experience with social media platforms and content creation. Previous experience with audience engagement, analytics, and content creation tools such as Canva is strongly preferred.
