SkillBridge opportunity with ATX Defense: a 10-week, in-person software engineering program in Austin, TX. Participants are embedded with the Marine Corps Software Factory development team, gaining hands-on experience delivering production software through paired programming, code review, CI/CD pipelines, and demos to the Government customer. The program ends with a capstone and a transition into a full-time Software Engineer role.
The Software Engineer works as an embedded member of the Marine Corps Software Factory development team, designing, building, testing, and maintaining software that supports Department of Defense missions. The engineer implements features, fixes defects, writes automated tests, and takes part in code reviews within an agile delivery process. They also support CI/CD pipelines and deployments while following DoD security requirements, including the handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).The engineer applies critical thinking to solve real-world engineering and software problems that come up during development, from debugging complex issues to making design and architecture decisions. They turn Government requirements into technical solutions with testable acceptance criteria, demonstrate working software to the Government customer, and document their work so other engineers can maintain and build on it.
