At First Student, the SkillBridge Technician Trainee program is expected to be a short-term transitional program providing work assignments and training opportunities to prepare program participants for a seamless transition into a full-time mechanic position within our organization after completion. Mechanics at First Student are vital to the everyday operation of the company and play a key role in ensuring that we are living up to our values.
First Student is seeking eligible transitioning service members for our Military SkillBridge Fleet Technician Internship at our Fort Worth, TX maintenance shop. This structured internship provides hands-on exposure to civilian fleet maintenance, including preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, shop safety, work order documentation, and daily technician workflow.Participants will work alongside experienced First Student maintenance professionals while gaining real-world experience that can help translate military mechanical, maintenance, logistics, or technical skills into a civilian fleet technician career. This opportunity is designed for service members interested in diesel, fleet, school bus, or transportation maintenance and may provide a pathway to future full-time employment based on business needs, performance, and completion of the normal hiring process.Participation is subject to DoD SkillBridge eligibility, command approval, location availability, and shop readiness. Completion of the internship does not guarantee employment.
