This is temporary position operating within in the guidelines established under the DoD SkillBridge requirements. Anticipated duration is six months (based on eligibility). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon successful completion of the SkillBridge program. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced TRC Commissioning leads.
Job description:
Testing and Commissioning of protective relays for electrical transmission & distribution substations. Works under supervision of Experienced TRC staff to test and verify substation protection & control system functionality. Become familiar with various types of test equipment. Become familiar with testing & commissioning processes and procedures. Read and interpret design drawings to understand engineering design and confirm intent. Must have strong electrical fundamental understanding.
Eligibility factors:
All Services
Has served at least 180 days on active duty. Is within 12 months of separation or retirement. Will receive an honorable discharge. Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS. Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months. Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship. Has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, detail orientated person. Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to client sites. Willing to work overtime and travel out of town weekly. Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
