Job description:
Clinical Psychologist – Provide behavioral health support to guide astronaut selection; evaluation, training, and direct care of assigned astronauts and their families throughout all phases of a mission to ensure mental health and safety; provide guidance to company leadership on contingency management plans for workplace emergencies; provide short term counseling support for employee assistance program.

Aerospace Psychologists are used to support astronaut / astronaut analogue selection processes and provide operational psychological support for commercial or government programs. As commercial space companies expand capabilities to launch a more diverse population of individuals to space (as compared to populations typically found in military or civil government programs), the need for aerospace operational psychologists will expand to accommodate the wider range of psychological conditions that could be possible in a civilian population. Training received in this program will be relevant to these commercial programs as well as civil service government and supporting academic programs.
